TUTORIAL : WINDOWS ME DIAL-UP NETWORKING
|
How to
Setup Windows ME Dial-Up Networking For Internet Chicago
- Double
click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop.
- From
there, double click on the Control Panel icon.
- In
your Control Panel, double click on the Dial-Up Networking
icon.
- You
should have a Make New Connection icon there. If the Make
New Connection Wizard doesn't start automatically, double click
on the Make New Connection icon.
- Type
in Internet Chicago for the name of the connection. Make
sure your modem is listed as the device to connect with. Click
Next.
- Type
in the local access number
you're going to be connecting to. Click Next.
- Click
Finish.
- You'll
now have an Internet Chicago icon in the Dial-Up Networking window.
Right-click on the icon and select Properties.
- You
should be on the General tab. Uncheck the Use area code
and Dialing Properties box.
- Click
on the Security tab. Enter in your username (all lowercase
letters) and your password (remember, it's case sensitive!). Note:
your username is NOT your email address. This means you need to
leave the @icsp.net off of the end.
- Click
on the Dialing tab. Make sure the box labeled This is
the default Internet connection is checked. You can also choose
whether or not to have Windows automatically dial your Internet
connection when opening an Internet application here. Once you're
done, hit OK.
- You're
now set up. You can right-click the icon and select Create
Shortcut to create a shortcut to your connection on your desktop.
